  34. II.     INSTALLATION
  35. ---------------------------------
  36. Crazy Paint offers two installation choices...
  37. 1. COMPACT:     approx.  50 (MB) of hard drive space required
  38. 2. TYPICAL:     approx. 100 (MB) of hard drive space required
  39.             
  40. During the installation process you will be prompted to install 
  41. Microsoft's DirectX version 6.  If you already have this or a later 
  42. version installed you can click no, if not click yes.  If you are 
  43. unsure if you have it installed click yes.  This is required to run 
  44. Crazy Paint.

  46. III.    GENERAL GAME ISSUES
  47. --------------------------------- 
  48. PLAYING
  49. 1. Double click the icon for the Crazy Paint that was created on your desktop.
  50.  
  51. Screen Resolution - Crazy Paint runs at 640 x 480 at 16 bit color.
  52.  
  53. Crazy Paint may change your screen resolution and color depth while being played.
  54. If your screen resolution is 640 x 480 at 16 bit color, then no changes will 
  55. occur.  If your screen resolution is greater than 640 x 480 then your resolution 
  56. will be changed to 640 x 480 for the duration of the game.  Your original screen
  57. resolution will be restored when the game is exited.

  59. IV.     DirectX
  60. -----------------------------
  61. Microsoft's DirectX is an extension of the Microsoft Windows operating 
  62. system designed to provide Windows-based games and multimedia-rich 
  63. programs with high-performance, real-time access to available 
  64. hardware on current computer systems. This results in faster 
  65. and better performing Windows-based games and multimedia-rich programs.

  67. Installing DirectX after the Crazy Paint install.
  68.  
  69. 1.    Click on 'Start' and select 'Run'.
  70. 2.    In the 'Open' Box type in x:\dx6core
  71.         (NOTE: replace x: with the drive 
  72.             letter of your CD-ROM drive)
  73. 3.    Select 'OK' at the Dialog box to continue.
  74. 4.    At the conclusion of the DirectX install        
  75.     windows will prompt you to restart.
  76. 5.    Once windows has restarted you can play the game.

  78. V.      TROUBLESHOOTING 
  79. -----------------------------

  81. --If your game is minimized when you print:
  82. Some printer drivers will pop up a dialog box when you print, causing
  83. the game to be minimized.  You can click on the game on the Windows
  84. taskbar and the game will be restored.
  85.  
  86. --Animated textures require a great deal of system resources.  The more animated textures 
  87. you have in the picture the slower the game will respond.  If your game is running slowly, 
  88. cut down on the number of animated textures you have and you will see peak performance again.

  90. --HP PRINTERS--
  91.  
  92. ERROR:  Not enough printer memory.  Unable to print page.
  93.  
  94. SOLUTION:  If your print driver is not set up correctly it may not be using all 
  95. the memory on your printer.  Find out how much memory is on your printer and then 
  96. go to My Computer -> Printers.  Then RIGHT click on your printer and then go to 
  97. the Device Options tab.  There will be a section called Printer Memory where you 
  98. can select the amount of memory on your printer.  Make sure this matches the memory 
  99. that is installed in your printer.
